What You Can Do to Stop the Spread of COVID-19

In these times of crisis, it is important that we all work together for the good of the community. When everyone does their part, we can start to flatten the curve and begin making a comeback. Here are some basic things you can do to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Beware of Deliveries

You want to get as much as you can delivered, but don’t forget that whatever you have delivered has been touched by several people before it reaches you — people who are considered essential employees and have constant contact with the public. Your vigilance shouldn’t stop when it comes to the door.

Have the delivery driver leave your items outside your door. You might want to set up a table for receiving deliveries. After the driver leaves, bring your items inside and place them on a predesignated surface. Using disinfectant and a soft cloth or paper towel, wipe the surface of all items if possible. Of course, fresh produce may not have that option. As each item is wiped, place it on a designated sanitized surface.

Having the driver leave your items outside the door also lowers the driver’s risk of contracting the disease.

Disinfect Everything

Make sure that you are keeping your hands clean and sanitized. Sanitizer is good for immediate use, but nothing beats soap and water. You should also clean everything in your home regularly with a disinfectant such as bleach. These items can be hard to come by right now, but keep trying in your local stores until you find what you need. Check with others in your community to see if they can help you locate disinfectant supplies.

Stay Home as Much as Possible

This isn’t just to stop the spread of the virus; it’s also for your own protection. The more people stay at home, the fewer places the virus will have to go. Staying home is vital to the process of stopping the virus. Getting deliveries when you can and avoiding populated areas are two of the best things you can do.
